I’m walking in sunshine,
I’m dancing in moonshine,
A steady pace to the finish line,
The beat goes on and on.
A faucet dripping in the night,
The changing colors of a traffic light,
The ebb and flow of an ocean tide,
The beat goes on and on.
Sure as spring follows winter
What goes around comes around,
And every one moves to a different groove,
A mosaic of sight and sound.
A child playing with a bouncing ball
Grows into a person nearly six feet tall.
We live and die - it happens to us all.
It’s the rhythm of life, the rhythm of life.
Another morning, get up and get dressed,
Get off to work, and go home to rest.
The weekend comes and we're feeling blessed.
It’s the rhythm of life, the rhythm of life.
The clacking wheels of a freight train,
Can’t sleep - my neighbor’s dog is barking again,
Useless thoughts in my brain,
The beat goes on and on.
I’m still walking in sunshine,
I’m still dancing in moonshine,
Still racing to the finish line,
The beat goes on and on.
It’s the rhythm of life, the rhythm of life,
The rhythm of life, the rhythm of life.
Songwriter's Notes: Ever notice how much of what we experience in daily life seems to have a beat, pattern or rhythm? Walking down a street, feeling your heartbeat, hearing trains rumbling down the tracks, a dripping faucet, or crickets at chirping at night all have a rhythm. This is the topic of my most recent song, set to an upbeat, pop-rock music style.
