Another day turns into night, and now I’m wondering
Why she never answers when I call.
Maybe she’s busy, or sitting in a quiet room thinking
About memories of herself and me, and trying to forget them all.

Hey, it’s me up here in North Country.
I just want to know if you still love me.
If you get this message, please call me back
Soon as you can.
It's gotten cold up here in North Country
Since you left and moved so far away from me.
I’d do anything if you would come back up here again...
Up here in North Country...
Up here in North Country.

It’s like a movie I play over and over in my head,
And I’m not really sure how things went so wrong.
Our time together was supposed to last forever,
But just like that, one day, I came home and she was gone.

Hey, it’s me up here in North Country.
I just want to know if you still love me.
If you get this message, please call me back
Soon as you can.
It's gotten cold up here in North Country
Since you left and moved so far away from me.
I’d do anything if you would come back up here again...
Up here in North Country.

I’m not the greatest at expressing myself, but I have to say,
There’s no one who loves you like I do
And I’m missing you more and more each day.

Hey, it’s me up here in North Country.
I just want to know if you still love me.
If you get this message, please call me back
Soon as you can.
It's gotten cold up here in North Country
Since you left and moved so far away from me.
I’d do anything if you would come back up here again...
Up here in North Country...
Up here in North Country...
Up here in North Country.

Songwriter's Notes: North Country is the title song from Dennis Stephen's latest album. The title itself pays homage to musicians who create great country tunes in the “upper states.” Blending elements of country and rock, the song tells the story of a relationship that has gone south as a lovesick man living up north still pines for his ex to no avail. However, the mood of this melodic song remains upbeat, and a solid country rock vibe prevails.
