Good Times Come

Good Times Come

I spent ten years wandering all over this God-forsaken town.
Hoping to find what I lost, ‘cause I lost what I’d found,
And the better things in life might start to come around.

There were too many days when I couldn’t clearly see
That it wasn’t bad luck that kept good luck away from me.
So I locked myself into a dark room that had no key.

It took many years and tears to realize -

Good times come and good times go.
You want them to last forever, but no,
They just slip away, and you can never make them stay.

A high school football hero and class President,
But these days I’m on the rocks, my friend,
A few sips away, from throwing it all away.
Thank God, tomorrow’s another day.

Seeing the long road ahead ain’t easy for guys like me.
Living one day at a time,
Trying to grab hold of something I can call mine.

Good times come and good times go.
You want them to last forever, but no,
They just slip away, and you can never make them stay.

A high school football hero and class President,
But these days I’m on the rocks, my friend,
A few sips away, from throwing it all away.
Thank God, tomorrow’s another day.

Good times come - Good times go.
Good times come and good times go.
You want them to last forever, but no,
They just slip away, they just slip away.
Thank God, tomorrow’s another day.

Songwriter's Notes: Despite having taken the wrong turns in life, a man moves past his demons, and finds comfort in knowing that the promise of a new day brings hope. He also understands that even good times don’t last forever, so it’s best to be prepared for life’s ups and downs. The music uses a simple rock guitar riff and solid country rock beat.
